About the sector
Tourism and hospitality is about looking after guests: people who travel, stay in hotels, eat out or order food. The sector includes hotels and guest houses, restaurants and cafes, quick-service restaurant (QSR) chains, catering, travel agencies and tour operators.
Domestic travel, eating out and food delivery have all grown in Indian cities, and hotel and restaurant chains continue to open new outlets. Each outlet needs trained people for service, kitchen, housekeeping and the front desk, which makes this one of the most accessible sectors for a first job.
