About the sector

IT (information technology) companies build and maintain software, networks and computer systems. ITeS (IT-enabled services) companies use technology to deliver services such as customer support, data processing and back-office work for businesses in India and abroad.

Almost every organisation now runs on computers, online orders and digital records. Banks, e-commerce companies, telecom operators, hospitals and many other businesses need people who can support computer users, answer customer queries and keep data accurate. Delhi NCR has a large number of such offices, which makes this a practical sector for a first job.
